Why Portland, Why Now

Roads dry, Mt. Hood in view, city fully alive. Big rides, food cart lunches mid-route, Bike Play on Friday, Eem Thai on Saturday.

The Airbnb is in NE Portland β€” walkable to Alberta Arts, Mississippi, and Williams. Two minivans for easy transport. Three big rides mapped and ready, all starting and ending at the house. Here's how it goes.

Ant Farm Ride with Rayco

30 Miles Beach? Bike Play

City Tour + Rooster Rock + Bike Play

  • Breakfast: Pine State Biscuits on Alberta β€” 7 minute ride from the Airbnb. Biscuit sandwiches, gravy, honey butter. This is Portland breakfast.
  • Morning ride: Rayco's 30-mile tour of Portland β€” starts and ends at the Airbnb. The city version: neighborhoods, bridges, river paths.
  • Afternoon: Rooster Rock Beach β€” a clothing-optional beach on the Columbia River, 30 min by car. Easy afternoon if legs need a rest.
  • Quick early dinner: Food cart pods β€” get in and out fast, you need to be on bikes by 6:30.
  • 6:30 PM β€” Bike Play: Oregon Park (NE Oregon St & NE 30th Ave). Half original theater, half bike ride. 3–8 miles, period-inspired costumes encouraged. Bring your bike and helmet. This is a Portland original.
Jun 20Sat
70 Miles Eem Thai

Zombie Ride + Eem Thai Dinner

  • Morning: Cook breakfast at home with Saturday groceries before rolling out.
  • Route: Zombie v2 β€” 70 miles, drops you downtown at the end. You'll ride right past a food cart collection just as the green bike paths begin β€” impossible to miss.
  • Notes from Rayco: There's ~500ft of gravel from a construction section on the way home β€” no big deal on weekends, just ride through. One dirt singletrack in Lake Oswego is easy to miss; you'll backtrack briefly, then see the opening β€” it's only 100 feet.
  • 6:00 PM β€” Eem Thai: Reservation for 10 at Eem Thai Portland. 15-minute walk from the Airbnb. Booked on OpenTable under Sophia β€” 24-hour cancellation policy, $50/pp charge.
